According to the UN, about 22.8 million people face acute food insecurity all over the country, and 8.7 million are in an emergency level of hunger. Humanitarian aid entails speedy intervention to save lives, alleviation of suffering and help for disaster victims to get back on their feet.
We often follow up on our humanitarian activities with development projects to mitigate the impact of the crisis on vulnerable communities. We continuously serve vulnerable communities in need in various provinces of Afghanistan.
The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that it can currently support only 1 million hungry people in Afghanistan, leaving an alarming gap of 11 million individuals who lack access to emergency food assistance due to insufficient funding. Additionally, 1.4 million mothers and children are no longer receiving specialized nutritious food necessary to prevent malnutrition, while malnutrition rates continue to remain critically high across the country.
